About the Village Board of Trustees

I‘ve gotten plenty of questions about what a Village Trustee is and what the Board does, so I thought I would provide some brief information here:

  • The Village Board of Trustees is the legislative body for the Village of Whitefish Bay

  • The Board of Trustees is responsible for:

    • Setting and implementing a strategic vision for Village growth and development

    • Managing Village finances

    • Managing Village property, infrastructure, and municipal services

    • Appointing a Village Manager and municipal staff

    • Confirming appointees to Village committees and commissions

  • Village Trustees are non-partisan elected officials. Trustees are elected to 3-year terms during spring elections.

  • The Village Board of Trustees is comprised of 6 Village Trustees.

  • The Village Board of Trustees is headed by a Village President, who is elected to a 3-year term during spring elections and serves as a 7th member of the Board.
